For instance, cats are individualistic pets and have a mind of their own and their needs and behavior much differs from that of a dog. So as a cat owner, one must look for a cat insurance that is specific to this category of feline creatures. Some diseases are specific to cats while there are certain conditions to which a cat will be more prone than other animals. Hence, a cat insurance should be selected such conditions in mind, so that your pet gets the maximum benefits possible from any particular insurance plan. Comparing various plans from different pet insurance companies may be a good idea to select a plan that is most feasible and offers maximum financial benefit to the owner in forms of coverage and premium payments.

The cat’s age, breed, gender and medical health are some of the crucial points which an owner must consider before finalizing any cat insurance plan. Also, many plans cover the costs of accidents as well as unusual incidents like advertisement costs for a lost pet or third party damages to be paid for damage caused by your pet cat. So, carefully consider the possible situations for which you might have to undertake substantial financial expenses and accordingly select the right insurance plan.

Insurance policies have become a part and parcel of one’s life and life insurance, car insurance, etc. have become the norm. So, if one is concerned about insuring all other valuable assets then why not his or her pet? Cat insurance is also such coverage for your valuable pet that brings you a high level of emotional satisfaction and happiness besides being an investment in a companion. Pet Travel Insurance | What Utility Providers And Insurance Providers Do You Use – What Are The Costs Like?

We’re with Sky for TV for which we pay 25 a month. For internet, landline phone and mobile we’re with Vodafone. 40gb a month, unlimited any time Irish landline calls and 200 mins to any three Vodafone numbers for 45 a month. We also have a mobile broadband dongle from O2 which costs 10 a month for upto 10gb – just incase we need extra or if we’re travelling or in the city or whatever. That 10 is a special for students, think regular price is 20.For electricity we’re with Airtricity (our bills are usually around the 95 mark for 2 months) For gas we’re with Bord Gais but might be moving supplier in September for a better rate, maybe. Our gas bills are usually about the same as our electricity bills I think, never on during summer though. We don’t have home (we rent), health (have med cards) or life insurance but we do have pet insurance from 123.ie for our Yorkie, costs about 75 a year I think. We get annual multitrip travel insurance (for a couple, excluding America) from Getcover.ie for about 45, after much checking they seem like a good deal. We’re thinking of signing upto a health plan from hsf.ie for 9.50 a month (that covers both of us) – never heard about it until recently, seems a very good deal to us http://www.hsf.eu.com/ireland/personal/health-cash-plans.htmlInterested in hearing what providers others are using and costs? Thanks.Btw, a heads up for anyone with Sky – if you don’t already have Sky Movies you can phone them up and get a package called “Sky Movies 2″ for free for 3 months. Just cancel 31 days before your free period expires and you pay a cent : ) Or keep it for 14 a month, that package gives you 5 of the movie channels. I phoned em yesterday just to get it for a month and they gave it to me for 3 months for free, lol : )

Mortgage around 230 a month plus life assurance 55 a month Internet/phone with Vodafone at Home, just 1mb internet access plus all UK/Irish land line calls included for 47 a monthMobile phone with o2, I top up 20 once a month for free calls/texts to continueAirtricity 104 per monthOil (central heating) approx 350 per half fill (400L) we have 3-4 half fills per year so maybe 100 a monthGas – cylinder for hob maybe 30 every 3 months Sky 33 per month – that will be going soon the way things are Allianz for home insurance 40 a month roughly including public liability Zurich for car insurance 30 per month (just swapped from Axa) via www.Insure.ie Pet insurance cancelled, 3 dogs, the eldest dog is 10 and we just can’t afford it plus the 40 worth of medication she is on every month that is not covered by the insurance. Something has to go.Road tax 58 a month (2L car) Surviving on the poverty line just about, no holiday for 4 years. B/f on the dole for 18 months so we do get a medical card. I draw no wage from my small business, just about break even each year. We have 2 teenagers & just lost 140 child benefit as the eldest turned 18 in May.

Pet Travel Insurance | Does My Dog Have To Be Quarantined From UK To USA?

My dog (14 year old Yorkie) Hasn’t been vaccinated and he doesn’t even have pet insurance, what would we have to do to be able to take him to the US to live with us permanently, i heard you have to have you dog quarantined for 6 months and i don’t think the old fella will survive it! Also can we travel with the dog on the plane, i don’t think he would survive being in the cargo area for the long journey over

“There is no official quarantine for dogs entering the USA from the United Kingdom. The entry requirements vary from state to state – some requiring that a rabies vaccination be given to the animals on arrival in the USA if there is no documentary proof that this has already been given. The UK vaccination is however different from the one obtainable in the USA as it is made from a dead, rather than live, culture and takes longer to be effective (approximately 30 days). It is essential that all dogs entering the USA must have the correct accompanying paperwork. Sadly, pets excluded from entry into the United States must either be exported or destroyed. While awaiting disposition, pets will be detained at the owner’s expense at the port of arrival. Generally, all dogs must be imported or exported through one of the following designated ports.”there will be no quarantine … but the dog will have to travel in cargo … no dogs in cabin for international flights and i have yet to find an airline that deviated from this rule … and it is not that stressful for the dog … the loading onto the plane is loud but one cruising the dog will just sleep … my friend has two very small dogs and she flew them to england from canada without incident in cargo … i have also flown my dogs all over canada, the u.s., and england too, no problems traveling in cargo … it is climate controlled just like where you will be sitting …it depends also on where you are flying to as the rules are by state and not federal … you could contact a vet where you are for guidance (my vet pretty much did everything for me) or contact the state you will be landing in for more specific rules … my only advice is to follow the rules completely … another friend flew from canada to england and when she arrived on her paperwork the vet had filled in the breed of the dog in two different ways so the airport said we can destroy your dog or you can turn around and take him back to canada … which she did at a cost of about 4000 dollars …

Here’s a wild thought…make a call to the customs and ask about it.

He has to be vaccinated for rabies. However since the UK is considered rabies free an exception would be made for your dog. Now if you were importing a dog from the US to the UK there are a lot of hoops that you would have to jump through.

No quarantine for the US however, the dog must have rabies at least 30 days before entering the US and must have a vet health certificate dated 10 days before entering the US> You will have to check with the airline to see if they permit dogs in the cabin for overseas flights. Once in the crate they must remain there.

Pet Insurance For Birds | Insuring Your Exotic Pet

Birds are typically very delicate pets, and most often encounter health issues as the result of an accident or injury. Lizards and reptiles have a very long life expectancy, and over the years can develop feeding and nutrition problems. Pigs, which have gained popularity as pets in recent years, are prone to respiratory and digestive issues, while rodents often run into trouble with their ever growing teeth. Finally, saltwater fish can be very expensive to purchase, and the smallest change in their habitat can cause severe problems.

Deciding what needs your pet may encounter is important in deciding the type of insurance to purchase for your pet. Most companies that offer pet insurance will also cover your exotic pet. When choosing coverage you may want to consider things such as the life expectancy of your pet and their current age. How much did you pay for your pet? Although it is difficult to think about your pet in financial terms, this may have a direct effect on the type of policy you choose to purchase. Do you need coverage for routine check- ups and vaccinations, or do you want coverage for emergencies only? Once you have considered all of these factors and decided what type of coverage is best for you and your exotic pet, you can then begin to compare companies and coverage.

Most exotic pet coverage is written for one year. It is possible to purchase a lifetime policy, however it is not as easy on the budget as the yearly coverage. Some policies require a copay, while others require none. It is even possible to purchase additions to your policy that would cover the theft of your pet, or the death of your pet should it occur in a house fire, accident or natural disaster.

In a time of ever rising health care costs, purchasing insurance for your exotic pet may prove to be a sound financial decision. Best of all it will provide you with peace of mind and allow you to focus on the best care for your exotic pet.
